December 2015 Hike
This was not only a "Troop Hike" but recent Alumni asked that it coincide with their Winter Break from their colleges... hence it also qualified as an "Alumni Hike".
Scouts backpacking: Henry B.(on his first hik), Mike C., Nick C.
Alumni: Trent G. (from Syracuse Forestry School), Scott G. ( from The London School of Acting), James S. ( from Boston), Tom S. (from Macha Pichu, Peru)
Adults: Mr. Tim G, Dhurv, & Howie
It started out as a grey day indeed... but spirits were high as our "veteran backpackers" challenged themselves by replacing their normally sparse individual dinner menues with elaborate multi-course meals ----AND with VERY heavy packs as a result. (Howie ALMOST had hiking company back in the "tailpipe patrol".)
The group body language "says it all" as to the confidence sprung from experience....
A nice scenario for a change== the heavy rain the prior week made potable water a much easier find than hikes over these last two years!
And of course, our Scouts ALWAYS have to test themselves with challenges....scrambling up the pocked marked back face of a dam is a common one.
